First electric buses: a big step towards the mobility of the future

It was with great pleasure that we unveiled our first four electric buses in the district of Stade. At a press event, we were able to showcase the new battery-powered vehicles alongside representatives from the worlds of politics, business and our company.

The presentation was attended by Michael Fastert and Jan Behrendt from our management team as well as District Administrator Kai Seefried and District Councillor Thorsten Heinze. Other guests included Kai-Ulrich Baak and Inken Montzka from the district of Stade, Ottmar Heinen and Dr Rainer Gärtner from eMIS and Karsten Leist from Verkehrsgesellschaft Nord-Ost-Niedersachsen mbH (VNO).

Electric mobility for the Stade district

With these new electric buses, we are expanding our fleet by four fully electric vehicles. The buses will be deployed throughout the district of Stade and are thus a visible symbol of the shift in mobility. This has been made possible by federal funding through the ‘Promotion of Alternative Propulsion Systems in Passenger Transport’ programme run by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV), as well as with financial support from the district of Stade. The project is funded under the Climate and Transformation Fund (KTF) special fund. Funding for this measure is also provided as part of the German Recovery and Resilience Plan (DARP) via the European Recovery and Resilience Facility (ARF) under the NextGenerationEU programme. The funding scheme is coordinated by NOW GmbH and implemented by Projektträger Jülich (PtJ).

The new electric buses

The four new electric buses are manufactured by IVECO and are part of the E-Way range. The vehicles are powered entirely by electricity and are designed for use on regular bus routes.
